Highlights from the Annual Meeting

On Sunday morning, July 17th, 30 people gathered at the Oastler Lake Park Pavilion for our annual meeting, chaired by Lynda Marsland. Retiring secretary Elmer Mann reviewed the minutes from last year's annual meeting. Lucille Reed, chair of the Social Committee, gave a brief summary of upcoming events for the summer. Marj Knight reported on the progress of the Association's website and was nominated to the board. Elmer Mann's treasurer's report was accepted as presented.

We also heard from Lloyd Taylor who is assessing our lake's status ( Phosphorus, Temperature, and Clarity ) at 4 designated locations following the Lake Partner Program. Diane Collison, our Vice Chair and FOCA contact, reviewed the structure of FOCA and outlined some of its programs. Participation in the Cottage Watch program was discussed and Karen Fraser will be Steward to establish a Community Watch Program. Diane Collison agreed to be Secretary for the present.

Lynda had put together an education package for each of the lake residents. Much of the information in the package came from the annual Lake Steward Conference she attended in March of this year. To date 61 lake residents have received this package. A nice display of the history of the lake was presented in poster format by George Waldrum. A map of the lake, with location of residences, was available free to all members. 39 of our 40 members have received the map. Jim Guest advised that Oastler Lake hats are available at the Park Office. David Minas volunteered to be Lake Steward and attend the spring meeting.

Seguin Township activities such as the meetings on the Christie Landfill Site, municipal by-laws regarding building, and the official planning for Seguin Township were communicated. Volunteers are needed to keep members up to date with municipal / ministry activities. Contact lyndamarsland@yahoo.com.
