OASTLER WATER QUALITY & THE LAKE PARTNER PROGRAM:

Lloyd Taylor is collecting data at four locations on Oastler Lake  once every two weeks from May to October. Please note areas indicated on our map of water test sites.

EVEN MORE WATER TESTING VOLUNTEER(S) NEEDED, PLEASE:

One or two more volunteers to help collect the data, particularly when Lloyd's unavailable, would be appreciated. The Lake Partner Program would like the results for their ongoing study, which benefits all of us, but more importantly, Oastler and MacLaren Lakes.

THE TESTS:
"In many lakes, Water Clarity is an indirect measure of how much phytoplankton (algae) is in the water. "

" Phosphorus is measured because it is the element that controls algal growth in the majority of Ontario Lakes."

DUTIES:
Take one water sample in the spring, and measure water temperature and clarity/Secchi every two weeks through the summer and send results to the Environmental Science Center for analysis. (they will mail out a kit). Results will be added to the Tables of Detailed Results annually.
